Where should I stay in L.A?

I’m thinking about taking a trip to L.A. next weekend. I’ve never been there, and am looking forward to visiting. I am going by myself as none of my friends can get off of work, and I have a free ticket that needs to be used by the 20th. I want to stay some place close to everything..Should I stay in Hollywood? Near Universal? In L.A.? Can you give me some places that I should eat at, bars at night, clubs?

When I last went to LA I stayed at the ‘Hollywood downtowner’. It was a very reasonably priced motel very close to everything and with a great family service. It is also right next to the metro if you want to go to universal studios for example which is only two stops away. Universal studios is really fun.) Check out the tram tour. The manns chinese theater is also great with the celeb foot/handprints outside. Sorry but I last went a few years back and can’t recall names of bars and clubs that I went to although there are lots to choose from. at universal studios at city walk there are masses of places to eat.

LA is a huge place. No place is close to everything. I hope you have a car when you come.

I agree with Chuckles. There is no such thing as being close to everything. Everything that’s fun in LA is spaced out, so you must choose the places where you would LOVE to go the most and find a hotel reasonably located near the area.
